I read this fic years ago and I know I have it saved somewhere but cannot for the life of me remember the name or the author.
In the fic,team McShep go off-world, get abducted by someone they have pissed off, and John and Rodney are left, stranded on a desert planet that only has a space gate, so they can't dial home. They meet the inhabitants of the planet who happen to be really nice folks that form marriage bonds as a 4-some (because it has to do with the 4 elements of fire, water, earth and air I think). One of these nice 4-somes (quartets?) take John and Rodney in until they can find jobs and get their own place. It's pretty domestic for a while- John works in the market, Rodney in the archive/library- and our boys fall for each other while hoping to be rescued.
