The first fic starts with a failed attempt to dial Earth. Things had been going badly at home with the Ori. After they realize they're cut off, someone commits suicide and Heitmeyer decides for everyone's safety, that they should all pair up with a roommate. Everyone knows John and Rodney are in love with each other but, since they're such big cowards, neither one will approach the other. Teyla tricks them into being roommates, they finally admit they want each other, sex ensues, etc. On one of the planets they've been investigating, there's an Ancient outpost or grounded ship and I'm pretty sure they find one or several fully charged ZPMs. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
The second fic takes place just before they go to Atlantis. Weir actually makes plans for bringing more than just a backpack each, which is ridiculous. She discusses it with people and figures out what they might need for starting over, including seeds, trees, looms, fabric, tools for gardening, etc. They do trial runs to see how quickly they can get through the Gate while it's open. They start with the stuff they figure they'll absolutely need until the last of the stuff coming through that would be helpful but not necessarily necessary for survival. Again, does anyone remember this one? I'd love to read it again.
