I'm looking for a story where Rodney is stranded on a different planet.
The part I do remember has Rodney wandering through fields/meadows and coming up on an abandoned/culled village and he starts making himself comfortable there. Picking a house. I have a very vivid image of him in a sort of medieval simple stone house, fireplace, drafty doors, etc. Learning to make bread (possibly with the help of old bread. I was talking to somebody about making a starter from scratch, making yeasty bread basically from just flour and water and it shook something loose about this story).
I think he may have also started to recreate all sorts of tech/amenities.
I'm pretty sure he was on that planet for a while before being rescued. No clue if others from the team where on the planet, too, and if they eventually found each other. Judging from my past reading habits, it's probably McShep.
