I'm so annoyed that I don't remember who wrote this fic.
I'm pretty sure John and Rodney were already together at the start.
They get invited to a wedding for someone who's related to John (I don't think it was Dave...) and then there are family feels for John and Rodney is generally Rodney. Carter shows up because it turns out she's a friend of the bride and Rodney done goofed and accidentally told Dave about the Stargate program while trying to interrogate him, so they have to bring out the NDA.
I know it was by a really popular and awesome writer but I can't remember who.
(On a tangent: I've been rereading SGA fic lately and is it just me or is the fic in this fandom universally long as FUCK? Finding a fic under 25,000 words on ao3 is almost a miracle. Not that I'm complaining, it's just a little strange compared to other fandoms.)
