I want to re-read a fic from ages ago that I just can’t seem to find. I hope you guys can use your magic and help :)
This is what I remember:
Rodney was the main character and it was a post-Doranda fic. Shepard and the rest of the team was still angry at McKay.
Fic takes place in a city on a new planet investigating an old building when a wrait attack happens. It turns out the building is an accident weapon and upon the ships arrival it activates.
Somehow Rodney ends up inside the structure and is forced to pilot it.
The pilot sits in a chair inside a dome building and can see the whole sky around the city /planet so they can guide the missiles. No one can on the outside can get in and can’t see or hear what goes on on the inside. What the inhabitants did not tell the SGA-1 team was that the weapon is powered by the life force of the pilot. Each shot drains them and after three shots you die. Rodney tries to get out but Sheppard orders him to shoot, not knowing what the cost is. In the end they defeat the Wrait ships and Rodney is freed but is in bad shape. He one thing keeping him going is thinking that this way he can earn Shepard’s and the team’s trust back.
