I'm looking for a McKay/Sheppard fic told from an OC's perspective. O'Neill (or maybe Carter?) notices that Atlantis lacks administrative structure and decides that Rodney needs a proper assisstant, so he gets a retired military man (our main character), who was assisstant to Generals and the like, to go to Atlantis. He brings his boyfriend, a chef, along. The assisstant finds that Rodney is unravelling under the "Rodney will fix it" attitude of Atlantis' crew and all the demands on his time, and sets clear guidelines on what's Rodney's job and what isn't, and who gets access to him and who doesn't. It has the population, and especially John, up in arms, but it does make Rodney's life better.
I'm sure it's on AO3, but all my search efforts have been fruitless. :( Can anyone point me in the right direction?
