What I remember about the fic is that the team is off world visiting some (for reals) friendly natives, and Rodney is worried about local dangers, but John blows him off because they would have been warned. John insists they try fishing, and one of them (I'm leaning towards Rodney but am unsure) gets venom in the face from a spitting fish and is blinded by it. They weren't warned, of course, because EVERYONE knows about the blinding fish!
