John and Rodney find an Ancient device (shaped like a bed?) that puts John's mind into Rodney's head. So they're sharing, it's not a bodyswap. It takes them a long time to figure out how to turn it off and get John back into his own head, and they go on at least one mission before they fix it. They get together during or after the whole thing.
